Helplessness Blues

Just yesterday was the release of the much anticipated second LP by Fleet Foxes, and I have to admit I love it. Though I'm not sure any album could have better harmonies, lyrics, or all around sound than their self titled debut, Fleet Foxes make a solid return as the leaders of the folk-rock world. Helplessness Blues is beautiful and melodic, but definitely lacks in some of the categories that made Sun Giant and Fleet Foxes such incredible albums. In Helplessness Blues, those famous harmonies that I love so dearly have disappeared a bit, and the sound all together is less sun-filled and joyful. Despite the losses, Helplessness Blues still has complex and beautiful tracks that speak to even the most skeptical indie music fan.

Key tracks: Helplessness Blues, Grown Ocean, Montezuma
